During the 2022 winter season which in Malawi falls within Mid May to early August, PEGO took a step to address one of the major challenges faced by the destitute which is lack of winter coverings at night. It is heartbreaking to see how such people experience their nights with only a wrapper (Chitenje) to cover themselves with which is not enough to provide the much needed warmth.

PEGO managed to reach out to 20 children. Each went back home with a blanket. It was an emotional and so touching experience when one of the children made a request. The child asked if she can be allowed to pray for the person who provided the money for buying her a blanket because she said now finally she can go back home and sleep warmly because prior to that she was just using a wrapper to cover herself. This is one such a story that gives PEGO the energy to want to do much more even as it strives to make the children and elderly smile again.

Limited resources is the major challenge for PEGO currently. PEGO managed to touch only 20 children which is a very small number compared to how many are in this situation.
