The Project

Project Name: Distribution of Black Roofing Plastic Sheets

Project Location: Katengeza, Kamtumbira and Wangwe Village

Project Date: December 28, 2022

PEGO Team: Mama Bishop Chawawa (Team leader), Mr. Kamtengeni & Mr Landilani Piyasi.

Background

Malawi experiences its rainy season between the months of November and Early April. One of the major challenges faced during this season in the rural areas is leaking of roofs since most of the houses are grass thatched. The most affected group of people usually are the elderly especially those that live alone and have literary nobody to take care of them.

The Success Story

PEGO managed to reach out to 38 elderly people aged between 70 and 95. Each one of them went back home smiling carrying a roll enough to cover his or her house’s roof. Besides putting a roof on their heads, the team leader also preached the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ from the book of John 3:16. This means, they did not just go back home with a smile on their physical faces but also their hearts were regenerated and impacted with the good news of the Kingdom.

The Challenge

The major challenge proved to be resources. There were more who PEGO could have touched but resources could not allow.
