Our Vision
As a Church, Go Ye Restoration, we believe in restoring the whole human being—spiritually, physically, and financially. Our mandate extends beyond spiritual ministry; we carry a God-given responsibility to ensure our people are established and sustained in every area of life. We are committed to a well-balanced approach that does not focus on one aspect alone.
The Program
In line with this vision, we launched a skills training initiative to equip the youth in our church with practical vocational abilities. We identified carpentry as a viable and impactful skill to introduce at this stage.
To make this possible, the church invested significantly in procuring carpentry tools from the United States of America—a substantial financial commitment that the church received by faith. We engaged Mr. Chinkango, an experienced and qualified carpenter, as our trainer. The church also purchased timber (Matabwa) and all necessary materials to support the training.
The Impact
This program achieves multiple objectives simultaneously:
- Skill Development — Youth acquire a marketable trade that can sustain them economically.
- Productive Engagement — Participants have meaningful work to occupy their time and develop their potential. In the same vein, the youth are drawn away from vice behaviours that can harm them and their future.
- Financial Empowerment — Graduates can generate income and contribute to their own sustenance and that of their families.
Current Capacity and Future Aspirations
At present, we are operating within our capacity, focusing on carpentry as this is what we can currently afford and manage. However, our vision is broader. We aspire to establish a small technical college where youth can learn various trades, including:
- Carpentry
- Electrical Installation
- Mechanical Engineering
- And other vocational skills
We are believing in God for the expansion of this program as resources become available.
The Need in Malawi
Youth unemployment remains a significant challenge in Malawi. Many young people face idleness and economic hardship simply because they lack marketable skills. This reality can lead to frustration, dependency, and diminished hope for the future.
How We are Helping
Through this program, we are addressing the root of the problem by:
- Providing free or accessible skills training to church youth
- Equipping them with tools and knowledge to become self-reliant
- Creating a pathway to entrepreneurship and employment
- Reducing dependency by fostering productivity and dignity through work
